Description
Blue whale paddle painted and carved by Cecil Dawson. Cecil is a First Nations Hereditary Chief, artist and story teller from Kwakwaka'wakw (Kwakuitl Nation) and currently lives in Port Alberni. Cecil and his father were commercial fisherman, fishing the waters around Vancouver Island for some 30 years, they started and ended every season in the Salish Sea. Cecil knew at a young age he was artistically gifted. Life experiences, respect for nature and ancestral history are his inspirations for his artwork. Cecil is a Wood Carver, Painter & Pyrographic Woodburner.
